ДДВ (VAT number)
Value added tax: the number is MK followed by the ЕДБ. Only a VAT-registered company has one.
An entity receives a VAT number only when it registers for value added tax. It is written as MK followed by the thirteen digits of the ЕДБ — fifteen characters in all.
North Macedonia is not an EU member state, so a Macedonian VAT number cannot be checked against the European Commission's VIES system: VIES covers member states only. Any guide pointing at VIES for a Macedonian company is wrong.
On profiles we show the VAT status as the register records it. We do not derive a VAT number from the tax number, and we do not claim to have verified one when we have not.
